TRANSCRIPTS OF THE E-MAIL CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN BILL MORGAN AND DWISE1

Update Notice:

Transcripts current to 11 February 2001.

I have offered a number of times before to make the transcript of the email correspondence between Bill Morgan and myself available for examination. Now that Bill Morgan has specifically requested that a part of it be made available (by email on 19 Aug 2000 at 18:30:10 EDT), I hereby post the entire correspondence via this web page.

The transcript was compiled from the AOL log files that I maintain of my correspondence. AOL's Log Manager allows the user to capture most of his session to a flat ANSI text file. The portions of a session that can be so captured include the reading of email. In order to also capture my replies, I usually CC: them back to myself. Where I had not followed that practice, I have inserted either the prepared text of my reply or a description of what my reply had been (in the few cases where I replied on-line).

Any editing of the transcript has been minimal and has been restricted to improving readability by inserting linefeeds or other boundary markings between messages and by deleting email with other individuals not involved in our correspondence. Messages between us and an interested third party, Liber8r, have been included.

Absolutely none of the text in the body of the messages has been changed in any way. The text that you read within the transcript is exactly as I had received it.

Downloading the Transcript:

The transcript is divided up into different files based on their dates. I have uploaded these files both in ZIPped format and in straight text, for those who are not comfortable with ZIPped files. Simply choose which format to download.

The advantage of the ZIPped files is shorter download times and protection from file corruption. Downloading the text files will take about two to three times longer and there will be no way to ensure that all the text arrived intact. For that matter, there will be no way to ensure that I had been able to upload them intact. All things considered, you should download the ZIPped files instead of the text files.

The ZIPped files were created with PKZIP v2.04g, which I believe to have been the last of the DOS versions. Normally, you would extract the files with PKUNZIP, but WinZIP can also easily perform this function with no problems. Again, if you are not comfortable with this approach, then simply download the straight text file.

To download them, you should right-click on the link and select "Save Target As" from the popup menu. If Netscape does it differently, then you will need to figure that one out yourself. If you cannot figure it out, then email me and we can figure it out together.

Re-organized the 2000 transcript into pre-Denny's (MORGN00A.TXT), post-Denny's (MORGN00B.TXT), and the aftermath (MORGN00C.TXT). The "post-Denny's" messages are when the acrimony hit the fan and the "aftermath" are the messages in which I kept trying to resolve the matter.
All three files are available in the ZIP file, MORGAN00.ZIP.
2000 Aug 30
Changed the names of the remaining text files to: MORGAN96.TXT, MORGAN97.TXT, MORGN98A.TXT,MORGN98B.TXT,MORGN98C.TXT. Please note that they have been kept in short-filename format (AKA, "8.3")

The file MORGAN.00 has been updated to include messages received as of 2000 August 24.
